Junior Keepers
Roll up your sleeves and help the keepers care for the animals. From studying animal behavior to creating toys for our curious critters, you have a chance to go behind the scenes and find out what a keeper’s job entails.
Ages: 7-10

Be a Wildlife Photographer!
Learn what it takes to get the perfect shot with our resident wildlife photographer, Judith Wolfe. Become a real wildlife photographer with this introductory to photography class. Learn all about what makes a good photo and then go in the zoo and test out your skills in the Tropic Zone before the zoo opens and in the classroom where you’ll meet some animals up close to take their photos.
Personal digital camera required.

Meet a Zoo Vet Tech!
Ever wonder what it would be like to take care of all of the animals in the zoo? Think you might want to be a zoo vet when you grow up? In this program, you’ll get to meet our zoo vet tech, Berni Leahy, to find out what it takes to make sure that all of the animals in the zoo receive the best care. You’ll learn about taking animal x-rays, giving animals medicine, and even caring for animal babies. Our vet tech will also talk about her recent trip to Madagascar where she helped local wildlife vets. The class will also include a behind the scenes visit to the animal clinic.
Ages: 9-12

Winter Zoo Camp
Spend your winter break at the Central Park Zoo! During this 2-day winter camp, youngsters will participate in a variety of hands-on activities including live animal encounters, theater performances, crafts, and much more. They’ll also make special winter treats for the zoo animals and meet the polar bears with their keepers.
Snacks will be provided. Children must bring their own lunches.
All children who register for Winter Zoo Camp will be able to early register for 2011 Summer Zoo Camp.
Ages: 6-8
Date & Time: Mon. and Tues., December 27-28; 10:00 AM –3:00 PM
Fee: $150 members; $175 nonmembers
