Girl Scouts

The Central Park Zoo is a great place for Girl Scouts of all ages to learn about animals, conservation, and earn badges! Each 90 minute hands-on workshop is packed with fun activities, animal meet and greets and exhibit visits, all while completing the steps to earn a badge — included at the end of the workshops.

Drop-off programs available for Daisies through Cadettes. Badges are included for all Girl Scouts that participate in the activities at the zoo.


SUNDAY, 10:00am - 11:30am

Daisy: Eco Learner

Daisies, earn your Eco Learner badge by going on a nature trek in Central Park Zoo! Through games and challenges, you will discover the many ways you can take action to protect nature! During the trek through habitats at the Zoo, you'll make a few pit stops to meet some resident animals up close.

SATURDAYS, 2:00pm-3:30pm

Juniors & Cadettes: STEM Careers

Do you dream of becoming a zookeeper or veterinarian? Maybe a field biologist? In this badge workshop, you’ll explore different careers in wildlife conservation by meeting animals and the people that work with them, begin planning your future career, and much, much more! Available for both Juniors and Cadettes.

Brownies: Bugs

Brownies, have you heard the latest buzz? You can earn your Bugs badge at Central Park Zoo! We’ll learn all about insects and cover the badge steps including meeting some insects from the Zoo, exploring insect habitats, and taking a bug themed micro-field trip!

Daisy: Shapes in Nature

Daisies can now earn their Shapes in Nature Badge at the Zoo! Using the Zoo as our field site, we'll observe the natural world up close, paying attention to patterns we notice, and create nature inspired art.

Juniors: Animal Habitats

Juniors will earn their Animal Habitats badge by exploring the Central Park Zoo to learn all about animals and their habitats. They'll learn about and meet some animals from habitats all around the world and also get an insider view of how we recreate some animals' habitats in the Zoo.

DATES: 2/1 (Sunday), 4/25 (Saturday)

SUNDAY, 10:00am - 11:30am

Cadettes: Animal Helpers

Girl Scouts can earn their Animal Helpers badge as will explore many examples of the powerful relationship between humans and animals. During the program, you’ll meet a few resident ambassador animals and learn about the significance of the human-animal connection in wildlife conservation.

SUNDAY, 10:00am - 11:30am

Daisy: Animal Observer

Daisies can now earn their Animal Observer Badge at the Zoo! Using the Zoo as our field site, we'll notice and make observations about our animal neighbors. We'll learn what it takes to make scientific observations and meet an animal up close!

SATURDAY, 2:00pm - 3:30pm

Brownies: Shapes in Nature

Calling all Girl Scout Troop Leaders! Book one of our private Girl Scout Badge in a Day workshops for your whole troop at the Central Park Zoo. Workshops include steps toward earning the badge plus visits to select exhibits and meeting an animal up-close. Badges are handed out to all Girl Scouts that complete the activities at the Zoo!

Daisy: Outdoor Art

Daisies, earn your Outdoor Art Maker badge with the Zoo as your canvas! During this adventure you'll observe color and music in the natural world, create your own masterpiece using natural materials, and of course, have up close animal encounters!
