Classroom Programs

Bring your students to the Central Park Zoo and have one of our talented educators lead your class through a wild experience. Programs are designed to meet appropriate learning standards in a way everyone is sure to enjoy: exploring wildlife, meeting an animal and engaging in an active learning environment.

Special Education Program: Amazing Animals

Classroom | Grades 9th-12th

Amazing Animals at Central Park Zoo is a NEW program designed for students of all abilities. Together with one of our talented educators, your class will enjoy a multi-sensory program, including movement, engaging with animal artifacts, and meeting a small ambassador animal up close. Programs include a guided Zoo exhibit visit. Special Education Programs are adaptable to students of all ages and abilities.

Our Changing Climate

Classroom | Grades 9th-12th

Explore how global climate change is impacting animals around the world, and right here in New York. Through real world conservation stories, a guided Zoo visit, and an up close animal experience, students will be empowered to take impactful community-level action.

Outdoor Adventures

We’re taking our classroom experiences outdoors! Join us outside for a fun, educator-led Zoo program! All Outdoor Adventure school programs include exhibit exploration and a special animal experience in addition to curriculum-based interactive activities.

Wildlife of New York

Discover the amazing world of wildlife that exists right here in New York City. During this program, students will explore the areas of Central Park Zoo to find out more about the species that call New York home!

Investigate amazing animal adaptations from around the world and across the animal kingdom! During this program, students will trek around the Zoo seeking fascinating and fantastic animal features for surviving and thriving.

Studying Animal Behavior

Outdoor Adventures | Grades 6th-8th

Why and how do scientists study animal behavior? Let’s find out by observing animals at the Zoo! Using ethograms to collect and analyze data, students will leave with a better understanding of animal behavior and the tools that scientists use to study wildlife.

Habitat Adventure

Join us for a Habitat Adventure! Through observation, data collection and making predictions, students will explore how animals thrive in their habitats and learn about the roles that different animals play in their ecosystems.
